Abstract
1 would like to thank my major supervisor, Prof. Dr. Farrukh Hussain, for his
guidance and support from initial conception of the research to the final preparation of
the dissertation. Not only was he a great counselor from my time in the Master of
Philosophy, but his support, understanding and respect for me provided encouragement
all the way through mystudies. He has always been easy to approach and willing to help
with any problem.
I wish to acknowledgeProf. Dr. Sajida Parveen, Chairperson, Department ofSoil
and Environmental Sciences, KPK Agriculture University, Peshawar and her team,
particularly Mr. Arif and Mrs. Shaheen for their active involvement in the mineral
analysis of forage plants and soil. Sincere thanks are also due to Prof. Dr. Hamidullah
Jan, Dean Faculty of Biochemistry, KPK Agriculture University, Peshawar for his
