Abstract
Globally, hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs) and dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes
(DDTs)are of great concern because of their environmental persistent, long-range
transport, bioaccumulative and potentially toxic nature and have been listed as
possibly carcinogenic to humans.
The purpose of this work was to investigate the occurrence of HCHs and DDTs
residues in three different compartments of aquatic ecosystem (sediments, water
and fish) and to assess their eco-toxicological and human health risk associated
with the consumption of contaminated fish, and to further evaluate the
bioaccumulation potential of sediments-associated HCHs and DDTs into the
investigated fish.
