Abstract
Climate change has become one of the most significant global challenges affecting natural ecosystems, human societies, and environmental sustainability. Rising temperatures, environmental pollution, deforestation, melting glaciers, floods, droughts, and extreme weather conditions have created serious concerns for the future of the planet. Despite increasing scientific awareness, many environmental issues remain difficult for people to fully understand and emotionally connect with. Art, particularly painting, provides a powerful medium for communicating complex environmental concerns through visual expression, symbolism, and emotional engagement.This study aimed to explore climate change as a visual and conceptual theme through painting. For this purpose, research was conducted on climate change, environmental degradation, ecological imbalance, environmental art, symbolism, and visual communication. Historical and contemporary artworks related to environmental issues and nature were also analyzed to understand different artistic approaches, themes, and visual strategies.Based on this research, a series of paintings was developed through sketching, visual research, experimentation, color studies, and studio practice. Various visual elements such as symbolism, composition, texture, atmosphere, and color relationships were explored to communicate the impact of climate change and environmental transformation. The artworks were created to represent environmental concerns not only as scientific issues but also as emotional and human experiences that affect both nature and society.The findings suggested that painting can effectively communicate climate change through symbolic imagery, emotional atmosphere, visual storytelling, and expressive techniques. The study highlighted the importance of artistic practice in raising environmental awareness and demonstrated how visual language can encourage reflection, understanding, and public engagement with ecological issues. Overall, the project showed that painting can serve as a powerful medium for communicating climate change and promoting greater awareness of environmental responsibility and sustainability.
